Or to be exact your generation of car. The smallest thing I know about the Seventh Gen Grand Prix is how to a tell 2004 from the other years of the generation. The easy way is the wheels, 2004 had some weird wheels that were all curvy and shit, but a small detail is that the 2004 is the only year where the trunk has a manual lock on it. So what small things to you know about your car?

During hard acceleration at high revs, the sound of the transmission is louder than the engine.

The 3B engine in my 1991 Audi 200 Turbo Quattro is pretty unique. When they went to the S4/S6, they redid the 3B and turned it into the AAN motor by redoing the cooling system as well as fuel delivery and a handful of other tweaks. One change they made that I would really appreciate on mine? The 3B is the only audi turbo sedan (I don't know if the sport quattro coupe did it too) that obscures the sensor hookups AND the idle stabilizer valve by placing them directly BEHIND the engine block. As Audi quattro systems rely on the engine being mounted longitudinally, you can imagine the fun of having to reach behind 5 cylinders and an iron block to do maintenance.

Oh man... There's a ton of minor differences between the 71/72 Cutlasses. A lot are pretty obvious cosmetic things, some are as minor as placement of some electronic bits, but one often overlooked detail is the primitive "crumple zones". The 72 front fenders have subtle folds where it would ideally crumple first.
The 92/93 Grand Marquis differences are subtle again. 93s have a button on the shift lever for the electronic overdrive where as 92 does not. I think halfway through 93 the switched to body color mouldings and concave wheels since I've seen 93s go both ways. 92 is the only year the Crown Vic has "no" grille, and was the only year for the Touring Sedan.
And the easy way to tell a 68 vs 69 GM A-body is the triangle vent window. 68 has it, 69 does not.

I know the exact date and plant shift during which mine was assembled. Yes, I'm throwing a birthday party. There's some detail about the side mirrors that tells you what year an XJ was made, but I can't remember off the top of my head.

The 2004 Toyota Sienna came with a VHS on just the seats. This came useful when I accidentally disconnected the middle seat in the second row and none of my family (and me) knew how to put it back in.

The massive rear hatch on the Tipo was made of fiberglass reinforced plastic because a steel piece would be too heavy to stay up with only one set of shocks.

There is a little R8 badge on the turn signals on R8s. I don't think the new ones have them though.

All the other years have this:

There are plenty of random things that come to mind about GMT-400 trucks, from 94-98 I can tell you what year one is from either a glance at the front, or a quick peek inside. Little details that 90% of people wouldn't know.
As far as my C6...it's an 05, which has a weird 05 only thing where the car has to be parked in reverse or else the ECM doesn't fully shut down. 05 had a unique steering wheel before they went to the Cobalt/Malibu/Impala type wheel, and mine is the rarest color...about 10% of cars were Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic.

I could distinguish between Supra years by trim, spoilers, steering wheels, rims, etc. I could pin point exactly what it was.
I'm doing similar with IS300s now.

The 2007 Legacy GTs were only different from the otherwise identical 05-06s from their gauge cluster and digital display. Plus they had SI Drive which was available from all 07+ models, but in 08-09 the LGTs received a facelift

10% heavier than an original GTi with the same HP. [stated in the voice of one of the TG presenters defending their choice.]
20 seconds from ignition till a coolant fault light will activate.
3500 rpm 3 times with coolant temperature sensor disconnected will reset the ECU.
The ECU does not calculate fuel/air ratios, but instead consults a preset table
First car to integrate robots welding the frame. I think they nicely overdid it.
Grommets from a Erector set are suitable for anchoring the throttle pedal lever.
The taillamps have reflectors but no hole for the Euro-required fog lamp.
John Muir Publications was going to do a How to Keep Your Jetta / Golf Alive , even listing it in upcoming titles. This was not to be.
88-92 spindles are different diameters and will fall out of a 85-87 steering arm very quickly.
Vented rotors bolt right on. Nothing exotic, just order GTi rotors.
Valve splash guards will melt into the valves if subjected to stupid heat.
A front engine mount failure can puncture the oil filter, loosing contents.
Half the model years had 4 vent windows that didn't open, until they streamlined it to just two vent windows that didn't open.
You could have bought a MK2 built in the US, Germany or Mexico. You cannot buy the Mk2 Jetta that China still makes.

The second gen later Acura RLs link the GPS with the automatic climate control so it can compensate for the heat of the sun's rays. It also featured a composite carbon fibre drive shaft, swiveling headlights, and Bose active noise canceling. Not bad for a car that debuted in 2005.

I have a secret gauge self test. You put the key in "On", then hold the odometer reset button for a few seconds. Then while still holding it, turn the key to "Run" and the gauges will sweep up and down.

In my E30, I have to skip 2nd for 2mins after reaching normal operating temp, if you use 2nd sooner, it will grind. The steering pulls, and after hitting a bump, the pull will change directions, but if you hit a bump with the steering dead straight, the pull will go away until the next bump.
In my Volvo, a good operating temp corresponds with the valves being quieter than the sewing machine that lives under the hood of the E30 :p All the fittings are metric and imperial, no order to it, but I know which is which, I've taken it apart so much. Oh and I can change between manifolds/carbs in under 20mins
That's the randomness that comes to mind so far

I just found out the other day that the Grand Prix was available with the same HUD system that the Corvette had and I thought that was very cool.

Indeed. The brake calipers also say "turbo" on them. They really don't want you to forget it's an SRT.
Also, 2004 was the only year e-blue was produced if I remember correctly.

1991 Buick Roadmaster Wagons all were blessed with the anemic 305 while 92 and up had the 5.7....I feel the lack in power but small size saves fuel right?

But damn do I hate directional wheels. Unless there is a left and right set.

I picked up an '86 GTI for a transplant into a Vanagon, everything was labeled "MADE IN GERMANY". Picked up a second '86 GTI to have spare everything for the motor, everything was labeled "MADE IN MEXICO"
One of the distributors had a vacuum advance on it even though it was a full electronic ignition complete with pre-Motronic knock sensor control unit. Both engine codes were "RD"
After the conversion, the engine occasionally would not stop if the ignition key was turned to off with the headlights still turned on. Turning off the headlights would shut the engine off. I guess electrical problems people experience and complain about with VW cars is true.

I've had or ridden in the US, German, and Mexican builds. I really like the German one. At the time '86, Euro still had carburetors. Mechanical fuel injection was for the premium models.

Yeah, the only real reason I noticed it is because I have an 05 without one and I kept seeing some of the GP's with them when mine didn't.

1985 4Runner: For 85 22re's only there are two holes for coolant temp sensors, only usefull really for having a mechanical gauge to confirm that your factory gauge is lying to you. Also for first gen 4runners, when you have the top off, you can still operate the rear window sprayer, which leaves a sizable puddle in your fender storage.
1979 Volvo 242GT: Only year for all 4 springs to be stiffer for the GT, factory ATE brake calipers on the left wheels, Girling on the right side.
